Chicago Cubs Day Nov. 7 11-04-2016
In celebration of the Chicago Cubs clinching their first World Series championship since 1908 with their extra innings Game 7 win over the Cleveland Indians, Mayor John Giles proclaims Monday, Nov. 7 as 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs Day. The Cubs' run to the 2016 World Series championship began at Sloan Park in Mesa where they led the Cactus League in attendance. The team has called Mesa their Spring Training home for more than 50 years, dating back to Rendezvous Park in the 1950s. "The Chicago Cubs had a tremendous season and truly earned this World Series championship," Mayor John Giles said. "Congratulations to the entire organization, we are excited to see you at Sloan Park this spring."
